There is a substantial insurance protection gap for natural catastrophes in Europe which is expected to become even wider given the current climate projections. Prevention and adaption measures can reduce the risks and insured losses. Therefore, they are a key tool to maintain the availability and affordability of non-life insurance products providing coverage against natural catastrophes. Ultimately, adaptation measures help to reduce the insurance protection gap in Europe.
