Matthias LEITNER (b. May 1963 in Germany) currently serves as the Principal Risk Management and Compliance Adviser in the UNHCR Ethiopia Operation. His professional background is in fragility and post-conflict stabilization, integrated project- and knowledge management plus multi-sector transition initiatives. Mr. Leitner has served as a Chief of Staff the OECD and at the
OECD Secretariat Paris and in several UN peacekeeping and political missions across Africa, the Middle East and Asia, including Afghanistan. Mr. Leitner has also worked on the humanitarian- development- peace (HDP) Nexus, aid localization and recovery from natural disasters as well
as aid effectiveness. His academic background is from Oxford University and Bonn University. Mr. Leitner is fond of languages and takes a keen interest in innovation and addressing the impacts of climate change. He lives in Berlin and Lisbon (Portugal).
