The Art and Science of Forensic Meteorology!

What exactly is a Forensic Meteorologist? And why do you need one? Forensic meteorologists use meteorological and climatological data to reconstruct weather events for specific locations, in support of legal cases and related investigations in which weather may have been a factor. Forensic meteorologists prepare written reports; evaluate reports or opinions of opposing experts; produce visual aids for presentation; and deliver expert witness testimony during depositions or in court.

About TC Moore

TC is the owner and president of Atlantic States Weather Inc., providing forensic and other meteorological consulting services, and is credentialed by the American Meteorological Society as a Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM). This certification is based on his education (BS Meteorology, MS Atmospheric Science; NC State University) and his 32 years of applied meteorological experience, including 22 years of Active Duty service as a Weather Officer with the U.S. Air Force in locations around the country and overseas, and 8 years as a Meteorologist (federal civil service) with the Department of the Air Force at the Pentagon. Currently, he specializes in forensic meteorological research and analysis, but also maintains expertise in risk assessment/disaster response and hazardous weather assessment. TC lives in Raleigh, NC, and volunteers as a weather briefer/consultant with the eastern North Carolina Red Cross in his spare time.
